Last week my mom volunteered to watch both kids for a day so MisterE and I could have some time to ourselves. We jumped at the opportunity. Truth be told, we couldn’t get those kids out of the house fast enough!
We then spent the day separately cleaning, working, running errands, and just generally being busy. As pick-up time drew near I realized there were still 3 stops at different stores pending. I grabbed a not-entirely-clean jacket and yelled “BYE!!!” to Emeka. I had to yell because I wasn’t sure which part of the house he was in.
It was then that I realized that we had missed the plot entirely. The day was supposed to be a chance for us to slow down and reconnect. There was supposed to be cute banter and loving glances. Maybe even one of our infamous high-fives.
Instead, we had traded a few texts, missed each other’s calls all day, and been distracted by the unrelenting but unimportant stuff. For shame.
I dropped my jacket in the laundry bin — where it should have been in the first place — and asked MisterE if he wanted to do a check-in right then.
He shrugged, which means “not ‘no’” around here. So I pulled out our mic and we decided to look back on the events that led us to a life that involves no peace and quiet. Part One of this story can be found here.
Have a listen while you browse through this gallery of pregnancy pics.
Now that you’ve seen the nice pictures, I’m here to tell you that even the most unicorn of pregnancies comes with a dark side. Edema, hair loss and milk over-supply are real things. See exhibits A, B and C below.
So that’s it! That’s the story of how our duo got upgraded with this cheeky, super smart, super loving, astronaut-in-training. I’d love to say we’ve got parenting her down to a science, but we’re really just making it up as we go.

Hurricane is going to be involved in lots of PaperDiem projects next year, which I’m very excited about. Keep an eye out for lots of new products and services. I’ve also got a handful of home decor/organization clients lined up, so there’ll be more blogging about our design projects as well.
As always, feel free to drop me a line if you have any ideas, suggestions or questions. I love getting to know you all.
Have fun!
